What you would be helping us with: 

  • Entering transactions for assigned clients using various software platforms.
  • Responding to requests from assigned clients on general accounting needs (i.e. creating custom reports).
  • Preparing reconciliations (i.e. bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, general ledger accounts, etc.).
  • Preparing monthly financial reports for assigned clients.
  • Establishing, documenting, and evaluating internal processes for the best client experience.

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field such as finance or business administration, or have at least 3 months of accounting/bookkeeping experience

As an Onboarding Accountant for our rapidly growing company, you will focus on client service and ensure we make the best first impression with new clients. Our onboarding team members work exclusively with new clients to ensure a smooth transition from onboarding to ongoing client services. 

Our new clients have differing accounting situations. In some cases, we are replacing another outsourced accounting firm. In other cases, we are replacing an in-house finance director or CFO. Some of our new clients do not have an established accounting system or require an accounting system migration. In nearly every case, our new clients require some level of accounting clean-up and process improvement. This is not your typical repetitive accounting role!

What you would be helping us with: 

  • Facilitate meetings and discussions with new clients.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for multiple clients.
  • Complete a comprehensive assessment of financial accounting records of new clients.
  • Assess a new client’s accounting system and requirements, cleaning-up account balances and accounting system set-up and migration, as required.
  • Provide answers to clients on technical accounting questions.
  • Reconcile account balances and record corrective entries, where necessary, so that all new clients are considered audit-ready when onboarding is completed.
  • Perform bookkeeping services, as needed, for new clients.
  • Provide training and support to clients with respect to newly implemented accounting processes.
  • Develop standard accounting processes for new clients that leverage technology to optimize for efficiency and internal control best practices.
  • Train our Accounting Associates and CFOs on new client processes to ensure a smooth transition from onboarding to ongoing client services.
  • Provide the best possible client service. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or an Accounting-related field
  • 2-4 years of full cycle accounting experience
  • 1+ years of nonprofit accounting experience 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects at once
  • Significant experience in direct client service
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting systems and tools (such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, Xero, Dext, Expensify, and/or Bill.com)
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Tech-savviness and comfort with software is a non-negotiable
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • A task-master with strong project management skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills

As a Chief Financial Officer for our rapidly growing company, you will oversee the day to day operations of a team of five accountants, ensuring accurate delivery of full-suite accounting and bookkeeping services to a wide range of clients. We are looking for an intrinsically motivated problem-solver who values transparency, inclusion, collaboration, and impact. You will use your passion for accounting and the nonprofit sector to make a lasting impact on our business and the way we deliver financial solutions.

In this role, you will have the autonomy to manage your team and clients as your own book of business. We take an entrepreneurial approach to leadership and team development, and we want our CFO’s to build their teams as if they are an entrepreneur. It is expected that you will work hard and invest the time into building out your team and developing client relationships.

What you would be helping us with:

The CFO holds many responsibilities. They oversee and handle the day-to-day operations of a team of 5 accountants, which requires advanced accounting knowledge, comfortability with technology, and significant management experience. We measure the success of the person in this role by the success of the team they are coaching and managing. These coaching and managing activities include:

  • Track team-wide tasks and upcoming deadlines and coordinate with staff to ensure that your team has the tools they need to complete each task correctly and on time.
  • Provide technical and social support to the team while developing each staff member to their full potential and efficiency.
  • Professional development of the team, including providing in-service training on technical advances in nonprofit accounting.
  • Regularly evaluate each employee and provide timely, honest feedback. ​​Hold team members accountable to deadlines, quality, and client service standards.
  • Analyze and manage client profitability. Report feedback to company leadership.
  • Periodically check-in with clients to assess client satisfaction and address issues.
  • Review client financial statements, as prepared by accountants, on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Serve as a CFO and ‘thought leader’ for clients. Provide clients with answers to their accounting questions and communicate proactively when accounting problems are identified.
  • Provide support to clients in preparing annual budgets, cash flow forecasts, and other financial analysis.
  • Ensure that client financial statements are accurate and ‘audit-ready’ prior to the commencement of financial statement audits. Serve as a liaison between the clients and their auditors.
  • Review 990 drafts, as prepared by accountants, to ensure accuracy and compliance with IRS rules.
  • Present periodic financial information to clients and boards of directors.
  • Research and continue education in all areas of accounting and technology used internally and by clients.
  • Onboard new employees and ensure their successful transition to the company.
  • Interview candidates for open positions.
  • Lead staff meetings and training.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Accounting-related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in full cycle accounting or public accounting as an auditor or outsourced accountant
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency with accounting software
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Advanced accounting knowledge
  • CPA license, preferred
  • 1-2 years of nonprofit accounting experience, preferred 
  • 2-4 years of successfully building and managing a team
